why family photo shoots really matter

I just got back from a holiday in Tenerife. As it happens my other half has family there so of course, we did a little family photo shoot. As you can see, it was a lot of fun. It was an interesting challenge for me because my Spanish is basic (and that’s being generous) and though the plan had been for Sam to translate my directions he had to run an errand, leaving me to it. One way or another they understood what I wanted them to do. I think the laughs were mostly down to my terrible Spanish. Whatever works!

I love doing these kind of family shoots and I know photographs like these can become so meaningful as the years go by. Like my wedding photography I feel is a real privilege to be entrusted to preserve these treasured moments.

These are the kind of photos that take on a greater meaning as time passes, when the kids have grown up, parents age and even just seeing changing fashions and old home decor can trigger memories and really take us back to those special family moments. And isn't that what life is all about, in the end?
